Meetings are on hold due to COVID.  Will restart in 2021.

Lincubate is a non profit which helps introduce kids to technology via hands on technical training and discussion. Lincubate serves Lincoln IL and surrounding areas. All of small town America face new challenges to cover expenses of aging infrastructure and work force. Tech provides an avenue to create jobs in a short period of time. The new companies we can incubate locally will provide a great tax stream for our community and new high paying employment opportunities. We can't accomplish this without having some tech talent that wants to stick around the community. Our goal is to take participants from introduction level to intermediate within 12 months, especially with the younger group ages 13-23. Our training focuses on teaching basic Information Technology skills to set them up for a career in technology.

We hold monthly sessions to talk to the kids about careers in technology, how they can get on a path to a technology career, and provide a lab space with equipment for hands on training.

During our Information Technology curriculum we cover computer fundamentals, computer hardware, computer software, operating systems, programming, basic circuitry, networking, server administration, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and basic business concepts.

HOW IT WORKS - Lincubate is an ongoing Hackathon that engages people to register a "Hack", and follow through with it, and then present the result to the group in a 5-10 minute presentation.

hack·a·thon

In the corporate world a Hackathon is an event, typically lasting several days, in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming. "a series of 48-hour hackathons to build new web and mobile services"

Our Hackathon will be ongoing.  People will participate as they can, and will stay engaged with our fun meetings and projects. These are huge resume / LinkedIn.com builders and will help get your foot in the door to technology!!

If you are already in technology, we need your help as a mentor! Help the community bring in those technology dollars and get people some skills they would not have otherwise had the chance to get!  Join the Facebook event and message us with details.

Why Participate? What's In It For You?
Simply because it is fun and you will learn new skills to help in your career. You dedicate time learning about anything you want to learn about. The emphasis is on fun and learning. A Hack could be time spent researching how to improve a process, invent a groovy thing, learn a new language or skill, or apply technology to your business. This is your opportunity to join Lincubate sessions to follow your dream and innovative spirit. Why wouldn't everyone want to have some fun and work on something they have always wanted to do/learn/experience? This will lead you down a path of interest that will hopefully lead to or enhance a prosperous career in technology.
